A little catching up!
We haven't had internet for a few days so I have a little catching up to do. We were stuck in our van for the night in Cairns because of rain. The next day we went to the Cairns Aquarium for the morning before moving on. It was a nice treat and Laurie loved it!

We left Cairns around 11am and started north to a small town called Mossman, not much going on here! We set up then went for a walk to the beach,

We see the same warnings signs along the beach

This sign is a new warning!

Now our plans have changed. We are going to bypass our original last destination Port Douglas and go a little further north to Cape Tribulation. Cape Tribulation is as far as you can go on this road. If you want to go farther you need a 4x4 vehicle. Cape Tribulation is in the Daintree Rain Forest so this should be exciting. On the way there we had to take a short ferry across the Daintree river then through a narrow winding road up and down a few mountains and into the rain forest.

 Driving through the rain forest.

On the way to Cape Tribulation we saw many signs to watch out for Cassowary's and speed bumps to slow you down in case one jumped in front of you on the road.

We didn't see any Cassowary's

We settled into our camp site and went for a walk to the beach. We are in the rain forest and it feels like it! Hot and humid.

You have to walk over the mangrove to get to the beach and here's a few critters we saw.

Same old beach!

After we arrived at the beach so did the rain, so it was back to the camp area as quick as possible. We stopped at the food bar for a beer and fries and sat down next to this spider!
He's a big one!

The rain let up a bit so we went back to camp and played some cards. The rain came up again and it continued on all night. It was a very heavy rain.
We decided to stay a second day so the next morning was sunny and warm. After breakfast we took a walk in the rain forest. We were lucky we saw a few things.

The rainforest was very humid so when we got back it was time for a swim in the pool.

After our swim it was back to the camp, and there it was! Our first sighting of  Cassowary.

We stayed in the camper van after that because it rained heavy the rest of the day.
So it was up early and off to our next stop. On the way out of the forest we saw where they grow Daintree Tea. I think that's sold in Canada.
 Fields of tea.

So now we start to head south and we want to come back though the mountains. Our first stop is Lake Tinaroo. It's a camp ground out side of town and not much going on except rain. I think the clouds cant get over these mountains so we are getting a good mist all day. Tomorrow we hope to do tree sky walk.
